Site & Exterior

The program is distributed across two distinct volumes. One is low-slung and rectilinear, clad in finely articulated vertical wood siding. The other takes an angular, asymmetric form, defined by a dramatic sloping roof plane that extends nearly to the ground to form one of its exterior walls. On the pool-facing side, a recessed wall creates space for a bench beneath a generous roof overhang. Throughout the exterior, color is a distinguishing element—light green painted wood wraps both the siding and the roof, allowing the structures to subtly shift in and out of contrast with the deep verdant canopy of the surrounding redwoods.

Interior

Inside, the design emphasizes natural light and connection to the outdoors. A large picture window and a linear skylight funnel sunlight into the main living spaces and the bedroom hallway on the second level. Smooth concrete floors, and pale oak walls and ceilings create a quiet, neutral interior palette, allowing the encompassing landscape views to play a leading role in the lived experience.
