Pennyroyal

The renovation of this existing 1970s ski house is driven by a desire to produce an interior that matches the simple and serene aesthetic of the existing cedar board & batten façade. Nestled at the base of Mount Disney at Sugar Bowl Resort, the vacation home opens up to the views of nearby mountains and meadows.

The main design feature, a single monolithic oak staircase, allows for a straightforward organization of the floorplates—compartmentalized functional rooms on the ground level, communal spaces on the main floor, and bedrooms with views upstairs.

Simple, elegant millwork accommodates the family’s skiing activities—designated cubbies help organize gear in the ski room, a covered entryway with new pegs holds skis and a deep bench on heated floors facilitates gearing up or down. Ample lounging nooks and comfortable seating encourage cozy afternoons and evenings by the fireplace after a long day on the hill.
